Make Small Spaces Look Bigger

Make Small Spaces Look Bigger

Whether it’s a tiny living room or a small entry space, flowers and plants can help make any area feel larger than life. Lighting and well proportioned furniture are important, but the inclusion of tall, slender and minimal arrangements makes a BIG impact.

Tall vertical lines can draw the eye upward, so you can appreciate the full verticality of a space; drawing your eye up towards the ceiling or to that slick new chandelier you’ve just purchased!

To make your space look bigger than ever, the McArdle’s Design Team recommends the following tips and tricks:

  • For a bold, minimalist feel, use a single stem of a bold plant, like the Monstera leaf or a Palm leaf placed in a simple vase or small pot on a table, chair or floor
  • For a contemporary, graphic look, use tall upright grasses, accented with a “collar” of airy blooms
  • For an architectural vibe, utilize bare branches like Curly Willow or Pussy Willow on a table, the floor or on top of a garden stool
  • For an organic, romantic touch, try a few stems of a seasonal blooming branch. Spring is the perfect time for Quince and Forsythia!
